Notice of Funding Availability for Affordable Housing Planning Grants in CT

The Capitol Region Council of Governments (CRCOG) has received a HUD Sustainable Communities Regional Planning Grant that includes $118,000 for grants to municipalities to support the creation of zoning regulations for affordable housing development, or mixed use development that includes an affordable housing component. CRCOG anticipates funding 3-4 technical assistance grants under this program. Work funded by the grant must be completed by December 31, 2013. Food Security Plan: Draft for Public Review Available

The Pioneer Valley Food Security Plan is now available for public review. 
The plan offers two broad goals for the region: "No One Goes Hungry" and "We Grow Our Own Food." There are 28 targeted strategies to help advance these goals.

Praise for HUD Sustainable Communities

The Atlantic recently featured an article where they praised the HUD Sustainable Communities Initiative - which funds the Sustainable Knowledge Corridor - for "helping communities who want to do the right thing for their environments, economies, and residents."
